Mid Year Break: Iconography Practice
22 June 2017
I have been doing an tutorial on Lynda.com by Von Glitschka, who worked in the industry making icons for UI and print based applications. I found his tutorial very helpful as he went step by step through making Vector based and Raster based/Pixel based icons, how to do different styles (stroke, flat, long shadow,...) and how other iconographers go about designing icons.
I always found iconography somewhat confusing and intimidating at the same time, mainly because illustration is not so much my vortaie.
I think this is a very handy skill to have, as I mainly borrowed icons from sites like nounproject and modified it to my own needs.
Here is my first try of an icon:
Where I could use this skill in my project

Where I could use this skill in my project
- website (especially responsive -> mobile)
- dossier
- book (Not sure how yet, but the print based icons made me interested in it)
