Week 11 Class

26 May 2017

Today has been a simple advisor session day, no lecture, no supervision meet up.

At 12:30 I joined the Social Media chat with Tom Middleton, as Massey Alumni who works for a Social Media company in Auckland.

He urged us to learn how to read our audience, talk to our audience and basically said:
"Social Media is all fake, nothing is legit"

I talk to one of my peers who was waiting for her turn of advisor session and we we're talking about our projects. She gave me the idea to think about what if making your own memorial out of your digital assets were a collaboration between you and nominated other users, like friends and family members? I thought this was a great idea, but for now I want to treat it as in you as a user have full control over how you want to be remembered (or at least that's what you will think). I probably consider it once I start making my project next semester!

I saw Tristam as my advisor, as he will be also the one marking my research proposal.

My feedback was that everything seems on track, my proposal seems to have a good structure. I asked him a few questions such as if I need a methodology section (I don't, I covered it with the exploration section), if an abstract is pretty much a synopsis = overview of my proposal, and if I overcooked my intention by presenting a potential system (which I haven't overcooked it, thank goodness!)

The only thing I could word it as a transmedia multiplatform as the system. And I chose binary computer language on my cover, but I explained that I want to show the social media side of things through the typeface and colour choice, and the binary code because everything we see on the screen is evidently made up by binary code, and its basically what we can't see and not even think about when we store and upload content.
